a wonderfully fun day with an amazing group of people = new fashion editorial for matchbook mag. photographed by super talented and all around amazing person jenna alcala. i was pretty excited to open it up and see that gwyneth paltrow was a contributor to this month’s issue. since i’m a contributor and she is a contributor i think that means by default we are now best friends.
here is an interesting article on the shelter magazine industry from the new york times today:

i almost forget what the wilderness means to me until i get deep into it and in the thick of it.

summer.. the best thing about summer is being outdoors. no argument there. with all of the summer offerings, like beach days, biking along board walks, drives to the country and of course the many many music festivals to attend we all craft our very own summer uniforms.
Some of this seasons’ tried and true: the requisite jean short, the bright patterned bikini, and the tribal patterned cover-up.

striped shirt, jcrew - shop www.jcrew.com

So i decided to create a pattern and silkscreen it onto some creamy organic cotton canvas to make a surf board bag. Little did I know, until yesterday that I was on ‘trend’. It turns out my stripes are eerily similar to the stripes on this jcrew t-shirt above.

here is the finished product. organic thick cotton canvas, piped on sides, with side zipper, loop at nose and two handles, draw string closure on bottom. the patterned piece is sewn onto the front and is stitched to provide three pockets for stashing stuff.
